Intraoral Camera
Placentia, CA

Female patient of Placentia Oral Surgery getting a dental exam in Placentia, CANot all that long ago when a dentist or oral surgeon wanted to look inside the mouth of a patient, he or she would use a small mirror to try to see what was going on. While we of course still use dental mirrors, we now also have another great tool that can help us to see the entire inside of your mouth. An intraoral camera is a small camera that will give us a big picture. Here at Placentia Oral Surgery, we like to use any dental technology that will make it easier for us to diagnose problems and treat them as well.

What Is an Intraoral Camera?

Intraoral cameras have been around for a few decades now, and they have grown in popularity. That is because they make it easier for both the patient and the dentist.

An intraoral camera is a small camera that was designed specifically for dental offices. It is small enough to fit comfortably in the mouth. It is easy to maneuver.

With an intraoral camera, we will see the picture from the camera on a monitor. This monitor is usually right near the patient. That means that we will be able to see what is happening inside your mouth, in a size that will help us to be able to see everything.

Another thing that is nice about an intraoral camera is that you will be able to see what is going on as well. Since the monitor is right there, you will be able to watch as well. We will carefully explain to you everything that is going on. We will also be able to point out the issues that we find so that you will understand completely everything that we are talking about.

Another Feature of Intraoral Cameras

Another thing that is extremely helpful with intraoral cameras is that we can record what we see. We will be able to take a great image of everything that is inside your mouth. With a digital x-ray, there are things that are not always picked up. An intraoral camera will allow us to see all of it and have a record of the issue. We can see things such as mouth sores that we would not be able to see with an x-ray. We will then keep the image on file so that we can find the best way to correct a problem. Even if there is not a problem, it is good to be able to have an image on file so that we can compare things each visit.

An intraoral camera has become an essential tool for treating our patients. We will use the camera to check your mouth and look for issues. We might also use an intraoral camera in your treatment. Here at Placentia Oral Surgery, we always want to use the best technologies to help our patients. If you are overdue for an appointment, call (657) 216-1617. If it has been a long time since you have seen a dentist, you will be surprised by how much our dental services and technology can help.
